Dead Horse Point Couples Session in Utah | Kyliegh & Brian | SovaPortrait

There’s something really special about photographing the same couple over time.

Kyliegh and Brian are one of those couples I’ve had the chance to photograph multiple times, and every session with them feels less like work and more like reconnecting with old friends. We’ve been meeting up since 2020, and this was our third couples session together, this time at Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah.

If you’ve never been, Dead Horse Point is one of the most breathtaking locations for a couples session near Moab. The cliffs, the endless canyon views, and the way the light hits at sunset, it’s unreal. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and just take everything in.

We planned their session around golden hour, which is hands down the best time for photography in Utah. That warm, glowing light creates such a cinematic feel, especially in a location like this where the landscape already feels larger than life.

What I love most about photographing Kyliegh and Brian is how natural everything feels. They don’t need heavy posing or direction. The way they interact, the way they laugh, the way they just exist together, it tells the story for me. My job is just to notice it and capture it as it happens.

That’s really what I focus on during every couples session, especially destination sessions like this. Not forcing moments, but creating space for real ones to happen.

Dead Horse Point gave us the dreamiest backdrop, but what made this session meaningful wasn’t just the location. It was the history. The fact that we’ve done this before, and that every time feels like another chapter instead of a one-time shoot.

Places like Moab and Dead Horse Point will always be stunning, but it’s the people you photograph there that give it meaning.

Kyliegh and Brian, I’m so grateful for you guys. For trusting me again, for showing up as yourselves, and for continuing to invite me into your story.

I already can’t wait for the next one.
